Light Shelves For Windows And Glass Facades (Sunlight Redirecting System)
Today’s modern architecture for building façades is taking on a new dimension with all glass architectural design with an objective to have better views, for more efficient natural light & sense of openness in the built environment. To address the a for mentioned problem, Skyshade has developed and patented Light Shelves daylight redirecting films/panels by names as of Skyshelves-D and Skyshelves-R which help in daylight glare control in the interior spaces of the building or industrial structures along with reducing the additional heat and glare thereby helping the users to use the space with natural daylight.

Skyshelves – D
Skyshelves D (light shelves), is one of the daylight glare control windowfilms/panels from Skyshade, an answer to larger façade buildings with its daylight redirecting panels, increasing the daylight penetration up to 30 to 40 feet from window. Skyshade utilizes natural light and redirects controlled daylight(sunlight) from windows to the ceiling or roof, thus making the interiors brighter and serves the purpose of having an efficient glass facade to the building. Skyshelves-D(Light shelves) make the windows perform better with their superior optics, long lasting materials and architectural analysis. One can experience the natural light with the required level of daylighting which is based on the project site and size of the window. Skyshelves-D can be fixed from the inner and outer frame of the existing window frame which requires no extra hardware or infrastructure.
Advantages Of Skyshelves-D Installation
Skyshelves – R
Skyshelves-R (Light Shelves) is a daylight glare control films/panels for homes, commercial and industrial buildings window and glass facades, giving diffused light with 90% vision thereby providing daylight penetration up to 90% with controlled heat andglare illumination. Skyshelves-R films are fixed over the vision part of the large windows and glass facades. The angular daylight is rejected during most of the day with optimum illumination efficiency.
Low angle sunlight into the building is observed in the early morning and late evenings. The daylight penetration is observed as shown in the image.
High angle sunlight into the building is observed between 9AM to 5PM. The rejection of heat and daylight penetration is observed as shown in the image.
Advantages Of Skyshelves–R
Lighting Automation With Electrical/LED Lighting And Light Shelves
Skyshade has developed daylighting sensors and smart lighting controls which help integrate with Electrical/LED lighting with light shelves or Skyshelves. This advanced technology help switch to electric lighting to compensate when there are low daylighting levels outside. Skyshade develops and installs the sensors that monitor the areas which have low level of lighting. The sensors don’t acquire much space to install but, necessary to install in the major area/zone of the building.
